Festive Flurry Ornaments for Sew-Funky Ornament Swap

For a Christmas Ornament Swap that I am involved in here in New Zealand, this week I have mailed out 7 of these gorgeous Festive Flurry Ornaments.  I just love them in the traditional colours of red, green and gold.

To construct my Ornaments, I followed the Stampin' Up! tutorial on YouTube to score and concertina a couple of the layers of my Ornament to give it height and dimension.

Working from the bottom-up, I have:

- largest ornament, gold glimmer paper
- largest ornament, Old Olive CS, Whisper White Kraft Ink
- largest ornament, Very Vanilla CS, Cherry Cobbler ink, scored and concertina'd
-2nd largest ornament, Old Olive CS, gold embossed
-2nd smallest ornament, Cherry Cobbler CS and ink, scored and concertina'd
-smallest ornament - gold glimmer paper

The Ornament is finished with a Very Vintage Designer Button which is vanilla coloured, and ties in the VV layer of the Ornament.  The ribbon is Old Olive 1/8" Taffeta and is hot-glued in-between two of the bottom layers.

The box was created with the Envelope Punch Board, I just love how versatile the Stampin' Up! products are, at creating things other than what they are immediately designed for.

Normally for an envelope you would just follow the dimensions posted on the front of the Punch Board to tell you what size cardstock you will need, and at what point to make your first punch & score mark.  To turn it into a box, you also need to decide what thickness the box will be, (mine is 3/4") and then calculate that much extra to both the long and short edges of the cardstock.  In this instance, I chose the 4x4.5" card size which gave me a 7 1/4 x 7 1/4" a square of cardstock, so I added 3/4" to each edge and got 8x8".  Then you also need to add a second score/punch at that same distance along from the first score/punch - my guide tells me the first score is at 3.5" so I add 3/4" to get my second score at 4 1/4".   Do this on each of the 4 sides of the box (note, this works because it is a square - for a rectangle you only do it on the 1st edge, and then turn your paper 90degrees and follow the score guide instead for the remaining 3 edges).

Then assemble your box as usual, creasing all your folds with a bone-folder and cutting your tabs for the side closures of the box.  I used Sticky Strip for a nice sturdy hold.  I forgot to use the corner rounder (which is built into the board) on the top and bottom flaps before I assembled this box, but I was able to still round the top flap after assembly.  It still looks okay without it, but I made sure to do it for the rest of the boxes I made.

I used Old Olive textured cardstock for the box, which seals closed (loosely) with the Old Olive Washi Tape from the Season Of Style range.  To decorate the front I used another snowflake from Festive Flurries, paired with another couple of stamped and punched images in Old Olive as well (Artisan Label Punch and Label Love stampset / That's the Ticket stampset and Ticket Duo punch).
