That scary "C" word!

It has been a while since I have blogged, but I have been very busy behind the scenes!   Tiny Kiwi has been continuing to appear at the Handmade Titirangi Markets, I have written an article for the October-November issue of the West Auckland Parent Centre's Newsletter talking about "Making and Doing", I am donating some products to a fundraiser for Cure Kids, we've had a New Catalogue Launch introducing two new catalogues, and just now I am busy preparing for 4 Christmas Classes that I will be running over 6 weeks in the lead-up to Christmas.  I know that is is obscenely early to be talking about Christmas, but I have been inspired by what I learned recently at the Stampin' Up! "Heartfelt Stamping Event" at Alexander Park in Greenlane, and I am looking forward to sharing what I have learned with my friends and customers.

Here is a sneak preview of a wee project I made today:

We will be creating this on November 2nd at my Christmas Ornament Class.  I really enjoyed putting this one together and can't wait to show everyone how they can create this as well.

And in the first class, on October 5th, we are making six Christmas Cards, two each of the following:

I also plan to make up a big pile of these packs to sell at the Handmade Markets in November and December; there are so many beautiful products in the two new catalogues from Stampin' Up! that I have trouble choosing which ones to use, so keep an eye out to see whether I have been able to reign myself in our not!

Here is a wee schedule of where you can find me over the next few months:

Friday 5th October - Christmas Card Making Class, 7pm
Friday 2nd November - Christmas Ornament Class, 7pm
Saturday 10th November - Handmade Titirangi Market, 10am-2pm
Friday 23rd November - Christmas Card Making, 7pm
Friday 7th December - Christmas Wrapping and Packaging, 7pm
Saturday 8th December - Handmade Titirangi Market, 10am-2pm
Saturday 15th December - Handmade Titirangi Twilight Market, 4-9pm

The new Stampin' Up! Catalogue is here, please let me know (email emilycampbell78@yahoo.co.nz) or leave a comment if you would like me to send you a copy or if you would like to register for a class.

What have I been working on lately???

Well three months have passed and I am really really REALLY loving being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator so far.  I am meeting all my sales targets easily and having a great time hosting classes and workshops and building up a customer base.  Best of all, I am earning my own crafting products for free, yay!

This is just a quick post to keep the blog 'active' and update with some photos of recent projects.  Hope everybody is enjoying their crafting!

Some cards I made (sold) at Craft Markets this year (of which I have only done two):

Brag-book with matching gift-card for Mothers Day - this one was a custom order, and we also did a similar project at our April Stamp Club:

I just love this vintage Mothers Day card I made my Mum, using some of her own old crochet ribbon she had recently donated to my craft collection:

In May we decorated jars (middle), this was my practice session at home, can you spot my guilty pleasure???

Thank You card and box of marshmallows I gave to a friend recently:

As you can see, I am slightly into the vintage style at the moment, and I am planning to continue on this theme for our June Stamp Club.

Also, for a small matter of business/housekeeping, we have changed internet provider at home so my tinykiwi email address no longer works, and I have sadly been unable to find a (free) provider that has my business name free to use, so for now all emails can come to my personal email addy, emilycampbell78@yahoo.co.nz

Thanks for stopping by!

Today is the big day!

Wheeeee, I'm brimming with excitement, I'm hosting my first card-making workshop tonight!!!  My bags are all packed by the door ready to go and set up at the studio, and the wine is chilling in the fridge, with a big bowl of chocolate nearby.  I have become an independent Stampin' Up Demonstrator!  I spoke very briefly about this in my last post, but now that it is official, here's the lowdown....

Many of my handmade cards are made using products by Stampin' Up!, who have a delightful range of decorative rubber-stamps and card-making/scrapbooking products, that are only sold through an in-home demonstration model.  As I have talked about before, I have always loved papery/stationery type things, and dabbled in making basic scrapbooks of my travels and exciting adventures over the years, but it was only when my first child was born in 2007 that things stepped up a level and a dire addiction to scrapbooking and card-making took form.  Early in 2011 I simultaneously began selling my cards to friends and family members, and I also joined a crafty wee group of ladies who meet monthly for in-home workshops using Stampin' Up! products, and fell in love with their range.

Last month our demonstrator announced that she had other commitments and things going on in 2012, so she wouldn't be able to lead our group any more, leaving a too-good-to-be-missed opportunity for me to join the ranks and fill her shoes.  I filled out all the paperwork to become an Independent Demonstrator and then waited for a couple of long slow weeks to pass before my Starter Kit finally arrived.

So tonight I have my first party.  I have a group of about 12-14 coming to a friend's studio to each make a couple of cards with me - using all my own supplies and stamping products - which they get to keep.  The cost is just $5 for this Make-and-Take project, and then there is a delicious catalogue to browse through and see if there is anything you would like to buy (if you are a crafty type person, I challenge you to come away empty-handed LOL).

I will update again soon with photos of everyone's completed projects!  And hopefully my guests will enjoy themselves and want to come again next month....  I'm thinking Easter Baskets would be a fun project!

Meanwhile, my card-selling and onesie business, Tiny Kiwi, will continue independently of this new venture, so if you would like to have my Stampin' Up! updates in your newfeed please go and 'like' my new business page, Watching Ink Dry.

New Year, New Offering!

Happy New Year crafters!  Hope you have all had an enjoyable break.

This year I am very excited to be taking card-making in a new direction, and would love to pass on some of my wisdom to fellow crafters and start teaching how to make your own wonderful handmade cards.  This will involve getting together in the home (yours, or mine) and me making all my stock and supplies available for you to use, and I will have a couple of projects that you can copy and learn how to recreate for yourself; or let me know if there is something particular or a special occasion that you would like to make a unique creation for.  There will also be materials available for sale if you would like to start setting up your own stash of supplies.  Please let me know (email tinykiwi@vodafone.co.nz) if you would like more information about this service.

Alongside this, I will of course continue to take custom-orders, and will have my range of stock cards available for purchase still.

Look forward to a new and exciting year with you!
